IN THE NEWS
I regularly point readers here to Armchair Generalist, one of the best national security blogs out there. Since Katrina, the Generalist has had some of the best insights into FEMA I've read. I really wish he'd write more about it, in fact. He has worked with FEMA officials, and he knows how the organization works. See this comment he left earlier today to one of my posts for a sample.
Please sir, you make me blush. I am but a humble servant of the public. I've only worked with one part of FEMA for two years, had only passing relations with the agency prior to that, so I'm not the best guy to talk about it. But I do keep my eyes and ears open and talk about what I see and hear.
I'm very interested in the application of public policy, and despite a lack of formal education in that area, can make observations. I'm going to have to blog about this idea that making FEMA independent of DHS will solve all our problems. Need to do some research first.

Still, you're saying things about FEMA I'm not reading anywhere else. Screw thy courage to the sticking place and POST!
