IN THE NEWS
Thanks to Body and Soul for a reminder that, while we're focused on Iraq, other policy wheels keep spinning--in this case, the continued investment in new types of nuclear weapons. Who's the target for these weapons? When might we ever have a use for them? Do they improve any kind of deterrence of nuclear or non-nuclear attack, or do they deepen the impression that the United States is a surly, scary hegemon?
These are all questions worthy of a discussion that we're not having right now, in spite of the fact that it's an election year.
