Some excellent podcasts recently that deserve your attention:
- From This American Life, the most screwed-up terrorism prosecution imaginable. It's so screwed up that it's hard to figure out exactly what happened.
- Also from This American Life, a journalist discovers that he's the target of a warrantless wiretap.
- From Spycast, the International Spy Museum's podcast, a veteran counterterrorism professional talks about the nature of the terrorist threat and the self-imposed problems the United States has in fighting it.
There's a common theme among these three podcasts. Whoever the next President will be, whatever the face of the next Congress, the question people will be asking in 2009 is, "How on earth did we waste eight years combating terrorist groups? And how do we hold people accountable for screwing around?"
